Short Description: Executive function (EF) supports for mathematical problem solving commonly include checklists, flow charts, and simple heuristics that commonly fail to leverage gifted students' strengths in logical reasoning and pattern recognition. In this presentation, we demonstrate our conceptually rich approach that transcends discrete rules and procedures to support gifted students with EF difficulties from elementary to high school.
Learning Objectives:
Educators will learn how to implement research-based interventions for students with EF difficulties to support gifted students’ growth and achievement.
Educators will learn how to develop interventions for gifted students who are underachieving in math due to EF difficulties.
Educators will receive actionable strategies and lesson examples to bring back to their classrooms to support their gifted and 2e learners.
