Short Description: Importantly, social-emotional development and needs (SEL) have been given increased attention in recent years, particularly during and since COVID-19. To improve student outcomes academically, socially, and emotionally, school counselors and educators (teachers, administrators) must understand SEL. A void, however, has been attention to SEL among students of color. This session presents theories of racial identity, along with strategies and resources.
