Short Description: Belonging is a powerful force in shaping gifted students’ well-being, motivation, and potential. Drawing on research by Walton, Wilson, and Cohen, this session explores how small, evidence-based “wise interventions” can reduce anxiety and foster connection. Educators and families will gain practical strategies to help gifted learners feel valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will be able to define “wise interventions” and explain how these research-based strategies can promote change in motivation and behavior in gifted and talented students.
Participants will discuss and assess potential outcomes of wise interventions in terms of academic, social, and emotional benefits for gifted students, based on session information their experiences.
Participants will reflect on their classroom practices, identifying areas where these interventions could be incorporated to enhance student support and engagement.
