President WA Coalition for Gifted Education Woodinville, Washington, United States
Short Description: Hear the detailed case study of Blockbridge, a suburban school district in Washington state, which increased identification of multilingual students, low-income students, and twice exceptional students by 16x over 6 years. Surprisingly, universal screening alone had little impact - it was only when Blockbridge added local norms, multiple pathways, and OR-rules that these equity results were realized.
Assessment Track - Sponsored by Multi-Health Systems, Inc.
Learning Objectives:
Attendees will recognize how universal screening interacts with local norms, combination rules, and multiple pathways to create even stronger equity outcomes.
Attendees will describe the ways that district leaders can generate consensus to make systemic changes to support gifted students.
Attendees will compare their district’s identification protocols with the detailed identification system developed by Blockbridge.
