Short Description: Differentiation allows for choice and voice but doesn’t have to be complicated to plan or implement. Teach standards/concepts/content through choice in approach, process, and product. Differentiate using Depth & Complexity icons, Content Imperatives, Universal Themes, and Think Like an Expert while focusing on real-world relevance and diversity of needs and representation. This will be a fun and fast-paced session!
Learning Objectives:
Understand how voice and choice are launching points to depth, breadth, and acceleration in culturally relevant and responsive ways via content-based and real-world scenarios, honoring students' needs and interests.
Explore and apply standardized templates and access resources/samples to create differentiated lessons/units for all learners, gifted/high-potential learners specifically.
Modify existing curricula to address processes and demonstrations of understandings that apply to a variety of content/standards/concepts, and that honor students’ needs, interests, talents, and identities.
