Short Description: Genius Hour projects often fall short of fostering true creativity without intentional design. This session introduces Torrance's "Manifesto for Children" as a blueprint for maximizing Genius Hour's creative potential. Educators will explore the Manifesto's key principles, connect them to passion-based learning, and learn strategies for cultivating a classroom culture that empowers gifted learners to develop creative strengths through self-directed projects.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will analyze the key principles from Torrance's "Manifesto for Children" and their application in Genius Hour.
Participants will implement specific strategies, such as "failure celebrations" and process-focused feedback techniques, to cultivate a classroom culture that fosters risk-taking and creative exploration.
