School Psychology Doctoral Candidate University of Iowa Coralville, Iowa, United States
Short Description: School psychologists are uniquely trained members of the education team who complete training at the graduate level. Coursework is designed to provide future practitioners with the skills to collaborate on behalf of all learners using data-based decision-making and evidence-based practices. We considered the 2019 NAGC Programming Standards and investigated school psychology trainees' perceived level of preparation to support high-ability learners.
Learning Objectives:
Attendees will describe skill sets that school psychologists have that align with best practices to support high-ability students.
Attendees will identify content that can be incorporated into existing school psychology graduate training coursework so that they can better support high-ability learners.
Attendees will identify training gaps in school psychology graduate training programs specific to high-ability learners.
