Short Description: Since 1999, Project Promise has provided gifted services to underrepresented students from low-income backgrounds and students of color. Past research has shown high rates of success on participants’ educational attainment. After 2020, however, enrollment declined. In this study, researchers sought to determine if factors associated with students’ retention ten years ago remain true today and to identify additional factors involved.
Learning Objectives:

Describe how factors related to retention of underrepresented students in university-based gifted programming have changed in the past ten years
Consider how factors related to retention of underrepresented students in university-based gifted programming can be leveraged to improve future recruitment and retention
