Gifted Programs Specialist Colorado Springs School District 11 Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States
Short Description: As we improve our identification ratios for under-represented populations, we must also improve our critical thinking and growth opportunities in programming for (most often) nonverbally brilliant and visual learners. In this session, we share 30 engagement strategies to foster a visual-verbal connection, increase student agency and creativity, generate critical thinking, and showcase gifted brilliance. Hands-on and right on!
Learning Objectives:
Our participants will practice creative and engaging strategies which nurture nonverbal and visual-spatial talent.
We will define relevant channels--critical thinking through creative and STEM activities: thematic units, building, design, visual-language connections, physical metaphors, cross-curricular physical products, interactive collaboration, authentic assessment, and a product-oriented classroom.
We will gain insight into visual-spatial and nonverbal expressions of brilliance in identified gifted populations.
