Short Description: Model UN simulations put students in the shoes of delegates from other countries, allowing them insight into the lives of other people and empathy for their situations. This presentation will provide an understanding of Model UN, the skills developed in talented students, and tips for running a program. Attendees will participate in a brief simulation of a Model UN event.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will gain an understanding of how the use of Model United Nations simulations/competitions helps gifted students develop their Gobal Awareness.
Participants will gain an understanding of how the use of Model United Nations simulations/competitions helps gifted students develop critical thinking skills.
Participants will gain an understanding of how to establish a Model United Nations program at their school and where to find resources to help with doing so.
