AP Psychology Teacher Park Hill School District Kansas City, Missouri, United States
Learners will participate in an activity using inverted goggles to help understand how the brain uses perceptual adaptation to adjust to our world.
Learning Objectives:
Learners will be able to define and explain perceptual adaptation, understand how sensory information can be altered and reinterpreted by the brain, experience and reflect on sensorimotor coordination under altered visual input, and apply psychological principles to real-world and experimental settings.
Students will discuss how experience and expectations influence perception and demonstrate how the senses work together to create perceptions.
Student observations during the activity, group discussions, reflection responses, the bell ringer journal, and optional assessment will be conducted.
