Dr. Javetta J. Roberson currently serves as the District Coordinator of Advanced Academics & Collegiate Partnerships in McKinney ISD. Javetta also serves as a lecturing professor at the University of North Texas in the Teacher Education and Administration department. Her research interests include supporting diverse gifted and Advanced Academic populations, culturally responsive and equity-based pedagogy (teaching, leadership, and curricular support), College and Career Readiness, and professional learning of teachers (special education, Advanced Placement, and gifted education). Javetta is the Co-author of the book, Sparking Change to Promote Equity: Implementing Culturally Responsive Leadership Practices in Gifted and Advanced Programs (2024) and Co-editor of the Book, Underachievement in Gifted Education: Perspectives, Practices, and Possibilities (2023). Javetta serves as the current Treasurer for the Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented (TAGT). Javetta also serves on the national level as a Regional Council member for the Southwestern Region with The College Board. Javetta is the recipient of the 2021 Supporting Emotional Needs of the Gifted (SENG) Gifted Educator of the Year award. Javetta is also a proud recipient of the 2023 Dr. Marcia Gentry Early Leader Award from the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) Special Populations Network.
