Dr. Kelly Lomax is a native of Mobile, Alabama, and has spent over thirty-three years in P-12 and higher education. Currently, Dr. Lomax is a professor in the School of Education at the University of Mobile, where she designs and delivers instruction in literacy, social studies, research, and assessment. She is also an instructional coach for the Bailey Group, where she works side-by-side with classroom teachers to develop standards-based lessons, delivers model lessons, and leads professional development. She has been a classroom teacher, a district supervisor, a project director for Talents Unlimited, the owner of an educational consulting firm, a regional facilitator for National Board cohorts, and an instructional partner and professional learning facilitator for South Alabama Research and Inservice Center. As a National Board Certified Teacher in English Language Arts (2000, renewed 2010 and 2020), helping teachers achieve this highest level of recognition is a passion project that she fully embraces. Dr. Lomax is the president of the Alabama Association for Gifted Children and strongly advocates for support for all learners in Alabama’s schools.
