Dr. Debbie Troxclair, Associate Professor, at Lamar University, a life-long advocate for the education of gifted children, has been involved in many gifted education organizations since 1987. She was instrumental in developing the Lamar University online master’s special education program and a concentration of gifted education courses for another online master’s degree program. She co-chaired the 16th Biennial Conference of the World Council for Gifted and Talented Children (New Orleans, 2005), was recently elected as president of the Association for Gifted and Talented Students in Louisiana and received the 2024 Service Award from CEC-TAG. She has made numerous presentations at gifted education conferences in the US and internationally. She has publications in various gifted education journals and has co-authored chapters in the NAGC publication, Using the National Gifted Education Standards for PreK -12 Professional Development and was a contributing author of Using the Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts with Gifted and Advanced Learners (1st ed). In 2023, she co-authored two chapters in an international book, "De Gids 2.0 Over Begaafdheid in het ondersjs." She served on the Board of Directors for both the Texas Association for Gifted and for the Council of Exceptional Children-The Association for Gifted.
