Dr. Crissy Brown is a state consultant in the Office of Advanced Learning and Gifted Education at NCDPI where she focuses on multiple advanced learning program areas, including AIG, Honors. Crissy works to support the development and implementation of local AIG plans in charter schools and leads the work to support district implementation of the honors level coursework policy.
Crissy has more than 15 years of classroom experience. She has been a classroom teacher at the elementary level and an English/Language Arts teacher at the middle school level. Crissy has also been a special education resource teacher and a gifted education specialist. In addition to her classroom experience, she has been an adjunct instructor in gifted education. She is passionate about recognizing and serving twice exceptional students, and equity and excellence in gifted education. She credits her three children for always pushing her to find ways to be a better educator.
