Elizabeth Shaunessy-Dedrick, Ph.D., is Professor of Gifted Education and Associate Dean for Research at the University of South Florida. Since 2004, she has worked closely with a colleague to investigate the profiles and social-emotional indicators of students in Advanced Placement courses and International Baccalaureate programs to identify predictors of academic success and mental health. She served as Co-PI of two U.S. Department of Education Institute for Education Science (IES) grants (a) to identify stressors and coping strategies employed by high school youth in accelerated programs and (b) the effectiveness of an intervention to support AP and IB students (Suldo & Shaunessy-Dedrick, 2015). With colleagues, she co-edited the APA Handbook of Giftedness and Talent (Pfeiffer, Shaunessy-Dedrick, & Foley Nicpon, 2018). Her works have been published in several journals, including Gifted Child Quarterly, Journal for the Education of the Gifted, Advanced Academics, Gifted Educational International, Psychology in the Schools.
