Kelsey Karcher’s 21 years of public education experience have led her to become a passionate advocate for gifted and advanced learners, their teachers, and their families. She is driven by the crucial need to increase equity in GT identification and services, as well as the goal of empowering GT educators to be leaders who create greater understanding of giftedness and gifted pedagogy with their students, families, and colleagues.
Kelsey is the Director of Advanced Learning Programs & Services in the Richardson Independent School District (TX) and founder of Growing Up Gifted. She’s also a part-time professional learning facilitator for her regional education center, an annual speaker at her grad school alma mater, an Emerging Leaders Program mentor with the Texas Association for the Gifted & Talented (TAGT), and a frequent presenter for TAGT conferences and webinars. Kelsey is the 2023 TAGT Advocate for the Gifted–an honor that is deeply meaningful to her because she was selected by her peers across the state. Kelsey earned her Bachelor’s degree in International Diplomacy and Broadcast Journalism from The American University and her Master’s in Educational Leadership from Southern Methodist University.
