Short Description: In this hands-on session, practitioners will learn about and how to implement tabletop roleplaying game design to build an engaging, collaborative, and creative product in the classroom. Utilizing a multitude of game design concepts from a current game designer, participants will generate their own game design ideas to replicate in secondary classrooms.
Learning Objectives:
Attendees will be provided research on gamification, creativity, and giftedness, along with the intersection of the three, to launch a conversation around a curriculum that supports high achieving students.
Attendees will walk through the creation of a simple role-playing game utilizing their specific content area that is paired with how to deepen it for classroom implementation.
Attendees will be guided through an iterative process used by professional game designers to create games, which will also come with several role-playing games as exemplars.
