Short Description: How can we support the relationships our gifted and twice-exceptional children want and need? This session explores developmental differences that influence peer and family relationships, such as social misunderstandings, emotional sensitivities, and personality differences. We’ll provide strategies to meet these challenges and offer practical ideas to help children foster strong interpersonal connections and personal growth.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe how developmental differences, such as asynchronous development and emotional sensitivities, impact the social and family relationships of gifted and twice-exceptional children.
  • Implement practical strategies to help gifted and twice-exceptional children build and maintain meaningful peer relationships, focusing on empathy development and conflict resolution skills.
  • Apply research-backed methods to support the social and emotional development of gifted and twice-exceptional children in various settings, including home and school.
