Cappie Dobyns earned her Ph.D. from Drake University and teaches art (and formerly TAG) classes at Ames Middle School in Iowa where she sponsors a chapter of the National Junior Art Honor Society (NJAHS) and has been a model-mentor teacher. As a former chair of the NAGC's Arts Network, her passion remains research and service in talent development and high-ability art education. Cappie is a 35-year veteran teaching in Texas and now Iowa with multiple conference and webinar presentations, leadership experiences, and honors at the national and state levels. She received National Art Education Association's (NAEA's) Outstanding NJAHS Sponsor Award in 2013 and has been a two-time recipient of NAEA's Western Region Middle Level Educator Award in 2001 & 2020.
