Dr. Jennifer Riedl Cross is a research professor at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She was the Director of Research at the William & Mary Center for Gifted Education for 13 years. With a doctorate in educational psychology specializing in cognitive and social processes, her research in the field emphasizes social and psychological aspects of gifted education, from coping with the stigma of giftedness to the mental health of high-ability students. She has conducted studies of individuals with gifts and talents from various demographics, including low- and high-income adolescents, adult, and multiple international samples. She and Tracy L. Cross co-edited the Handbook for Counselors Serving Students with Gifts and Talents, now in its second edition. Dr. Cross is the current editor of the National Association for Gifted Children’s research journal, the Gifted Child Quarterly.
