Hot Springs, Arkansas, United States
Ashley Hicks, EdD, currently serves as the Outreach Coordinator for the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts (ASMSA) in Hot Springs, Arkansas. An Arkansas native, Ashley earned her BS in Physics from the University of Central Arkansas (UCA) and her MSE in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. After completing her master’s degree, she returned to UCA to teach for eight years in the Department of Physics and Astronomy. For five of those years, she served as a faculty-in-residence, developing programming and teaching courses for first-year students in a STEM Residential College.
Inspired by her passion for organizational structure and driven to understand the role of organizations in student success, Ashley earned her EdD in Higher Education Leadership and Administration from Maryville University of Saint Louis in 2022. Her research focused on student involvement, student support, and the lived-experiences of first-generation, first-year students. In 2023, Ashley returned to Hot Springs to join ASMSA as Outreach Coordinator. In this role, she coordinates enrollment, above-level testing, and enrichment opportunities for ASMSA-TIP, a talent identification and development program for 6th-8th grade students (and their families) across the state.
