Justin Mitchell is an award-winning educator who brings energy, creativity, and passion to the classroom and beyond. As an 8th grade Social Studies teacher and Gifted & Talented Coordinator at Franklin-Simpson Middle School in Franklin, Kentucky, Justin was honored as the 2021 Kentucky History Teacher of the Year, a National History Teacher of the Year Finalist, and the 2023 recipient of the Kentucky Middle School Achievement Award. He was recently inducted into the Kentucky Youth Assembly Advisory Hall of Fame for his long-standing commitment to student leadership and civic engagement. A dedicated advocate for gifted education, he currently serves as Secretary of the Kentucky Association for Gifted Education and was recently named Chair of the NAGC’s Public Policy and Advocacy Committee. He also serves on the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board, helping shape the future of education in the Commonwealth.
