Des Plaines, Illinois, United States
Beverly Preuss has been on the faculty of Science & Arts Academy since 2014 and brings over 30 years of experience in education to her work. She earned her bachelors in music education and vocal performance from Northwestern University and her masters in curriculum and instruction from National Louis University. Beverly teaches music to 4th-7th graders, chorus to 5th-8th graders, and is the music director for SAA’s musical productions. She enjoys collaboration with colleagues, particularly those collaborations that yield co-curricular projects. Beverly also serves as SAA’s Culture and Belonging Coordinator. In this role she chairs the JEDI's for Belonging Committee and serves as a leader for equity and inclusion work.
In addition to her teaching experience, Beverly spent 5 years of her career running her own business in which she created educational assemblies about issues such as bullying, and tolerance which were presented to a variety of schools throughout Chicagoland.
Avocationally, you can find Beverly in the theater directing and performing in shows, at home spending time with her family and two dogs, reading a good book, crocheting, or planning and taking trips. Learning about human culture and telling stories through song and theater are lifelong joys for her.
