Short Description: Gifted program identification is only the beginning—not a finish line! Belongingness influences academic success and well-being, especially for marginalized students who are often misunderstood or unsupported. This session offers practical strategies to support gifted learners through community connections, caregiver collaboration, and cultural capital. Join us as we unlock potential—and give the gift of belonging.
Learning Objectives:
Attendees will identify and address barriers to belonging for gifted students, particularly those from underrepresented and marginalized communities, to promote equitable learning environments.
Attendees will learn how to incorporate students’ cultural capital into differentiated learning environments to foster academic, social, and emotional growth beyond the gifted label.
Attendees will learn to engage caregivers and communities in creating inclusive, supportive educational experiences for their gifted learners through an engaging simulation activity.
