Short Description: The study of motivation and giftedness has a long history. What current practices and strategies for gifted student motivation have a strong foundation in research and theory? This session will focus on practical solutions for motivation problems with GT students, especially strategies that are based on robust research results and cutting-edge theories in cognitive/social psychology and educational neuroscience.
Learning Objectives:
Attendees will be able to describe three or more important research foundations for motivation practices with gifted and talented children from all populations and at all ages.
Attendees will be able to try out several specific practices and strategies to improve and enhance the motivation of the gifted and talented children in their lives.
Attendees will be able to converse persuasively with colleagues and administrators about the need for appropriate challenge in order to motivate gifted and talented students.
