Short Description: Using the state of Pennsylvania as a case study, this session will dive deeply into the demographic data of gifted students across the commonwealth. Together, we will explore and analyze the relationship between factors such as geographic location, race, ethnicity, socio-economic status and gifted identification and access in a manner that will provide insight to the work of all participants.

Examine where and how racial disparities manifest themselves in gifted education programs across the state of Pennsylvania and potential regional or national implications.
Exploration factors that are contributing to or driving the under-identification of Black gifted students and underrepresentation of Black students in gifted education programs.
Discuss strategies that are being used to address racial disparities in gifted education and meet the needs of high performing and high potential students of color.
