Debi K. Torres is a Ph.D. student in Baylor University's Educational Psychology program, specializing in gifted education. She is also a member of the research team at the Baylor Center for Gifted Education and Talent Development, which supports the Baylor Talent Identification Program (Baylor TIP). Debi has extensive experience working with gifted children and their teachers and families as a gifted education coordinator in a large urban school district and was the primary investigator of a Jacob K. Javits grant. For this work, she was honored as the Administrator of the Gifted by the Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented (TAGT). Debi's research interests relate to improving access to advanced learning opportunities for high-ability students from diverse backgrounds, and she is passionate about advocating for underserved gifted children through her research efforts and NAGC and TAGT committee service.
