Dr. German Diaz is a native of Colombia. He works as a Gifted and Talented Coordinator at Milwaukee Public Schools in Milwaukee. He has been teaching in the U.S. and Colombia for 24 years, combined. He is a school and district leader who addresses issues of inequality, social justice, and the underrepresentation of Latino students in gifted programs.
He holds a B.S. degree in Philosophy and Education from Saint Thomas Aquinas University in Colombia, a master’s degree in theology from Saint Francis Seminary, a master’s degree in Bilingual Education from Lakeland College, and a Ph.D. in Urban Education with a concentration in Multicultural Studies from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. His research focuses on gifted education with an emphasis on underrepresented Latinos/as in gifted programs; and the inclusion of the arts to nurture, identify, and develop talent. He also has served as a presenter at the state and national levels on the issue of the underrepresentation of Latino students in gifted programs.
Finally, he has two beautiful children: Salem and Emaluna. He enjoys riding his motorcycle, playing sports, and traveling.
