Short Description: How do you serve musically gifted students who live in rural and high-poverty areas? This session will provide educators new to gifted education with equitable identification tools that may reduce bias, examples of identification evidence, cost-effective ideas to utilize community and school resources, and in-hand differentiated instruction resources to enhance arts education for students living in these locations.

Learning Objectives:

Attendees will identify potential biases and barriers and describe how they may impact identifying musically gifted students living in rural and high-poverty areas.
Attendees will select identification tools and determine how these tools may support formal identification procedures in their schools.
Attendees will examine service delivery options and describe how they can apply them to meet their students' learning needs.
